Trying to review an album for a band called Sick Puppies is a lot harder than one would think. It took me a while just to get over the band’s ridiculous name to try and enjoy their album. As much as I tried to head into this session of music listening of being open minded, my mind quickly closed as the cd played. Although being from Austrailia, the band resembles many of our famous North American rock bands Creed and Nickelback mixed with the trashiness of Puddle of Mudd. Throughout most of the album, very few songs really caught my attention. I found myself even hating a few of the songs. In all fairness, even with the bands cheesy grunge rock style there are some good rockin’ guitar parts.Like most of the bands they resemble, the lyrics are definitely quite cheesy and trashy. Don’t get me wrong there are some good songs on this album, like “World” and “Pitiful”. Other than those two songs I didn’t seem to find many songs catchy or worth spending my time listening to. For all of you who do like the slower songs, there are a few slower ballads “What Are You Looking For†and “Too Many Wordsâ€. Then there are some songs like “Asshole Father”, which I found so awful I wanted to break the cd. This band definitely has the talent, it’s just not talent I feel like wasting my time listening too. If would recommend this album to fans of Creed, Nickelback, Puddle Of Mudd, or any other cheesy band of that genre. But don’t get me completely wrong, I love all kinds of music, it’s just that I believe that this album could have had some better songs on it. An album needs more than just two or three catchy songs to be considered more than decent, and decent is exactly how to describe Sick Puppies.

Hah, I’m glad you started the review about the name. I was going to say that I knew it was bad to judge a book by its cover, but that I would nonetheless have a very difficult time giving this band a chance due to its horribly bad name.
Now, that I know they play music along the lines of Creed and Nickelback, I really don’t feel bad for not giving it a chance.

Honestly it’s not horrible, but some songs are plain out crap to me. The standout tracks I listed you should check out just to be familar with the band. The standout tracks aren’t bad.

I think they have come up with a new twist to a weathered genre, and “all the same” is by far the best song. Other highlights are “anywhere but here” “too many words” and “what are you looking for”. The reviewer finds the band name rediculous, which he seems to base much of his review on (talk about judging a book by it’s cover). This in a time when stupid and corny band names are as commond as gravel on a countryside road. Sick Puppies is in my oppinion a straight forward, understandable and old fashion band name, unlike for example ;The Red Jumpsuite Apperatus, Hidden In Plain View or Your Codename Is milo, to name a few, and I am not saying that these are not good bands, they just have original names. I am just emphasizing, What’s in a name?

Dudes you all need to listen to this cd again. Sick puppies music is awesome sings to my soul. Howards Tale and Anywhere but here are 2 songs that really jump out on this album. And comparing them to Creed and Nickelback is sameful nothing like those sell outs, I would choose Sick Puppies over those two bands together anyday.

Wow. First, I don’t see a song named “World” on this album. I see “My World”. I do not see “World”. If your going to call it the best song on the album, at least get the name right. Not suprisingly, the songs you label as the top two are the first two songs on the album. Did you really even listen to the whole album? Secondly, to call “Too Many Words” a slow song is insulting, and the change in time signatures after the solo is amazing. And while I have other issues with this review, such as accusations of cheesy lyrics without even giving an example, the worst part of all is that you lack a valid or intelligant way to critisize the band, and resort to comparing them to Nickleback and Creed. If reviews like this are to be believed, every rock band sounds like Nickleback or Creed. To anyone reading this, I would highly recommed “Dressed Up As Life” and the Sick Puppies upcoming album.
