June has posted an update on the status of their future. Check out the message below.
Hey guys,
We wanted to share with you everything that has been going on in our lives as of late.
We’re very very sad to say that this is the first time the band is not going to be the priority in our lives since we were all youngsters in high school. There’s really no other way to explain it besides saying that we just all feel we need to change something. It was a feeling that was collectively brought up by all of us so there are definitely no harsh splits or arguments that were involved when this decision came to be.
Basically, it’s been our dream since we could all actually play songs on our instruments to be in a successful touring band. We’ve worked hard since we were sophomores in high school (a pretty bad garage band at best, ha) to build a very cool following in Chicago and then eventually sign to Victory Records and put out two CD’s in stores while touring with the absolute coolest bands across the country. All of these things were amazing goals that we achieved and will be things that we will never ever forget doing (plus, we have endless amounts of stories from the road). It really does make us sad when we start sitting and reminiscing about all of the incredible shows we’ve played, the people we’ve met, the parties and places we went to everywhere in the US…it was all just amazing. However, it also becomes a harsh reality when you really start having to look at your own life and really building to have a successful career.
Unfortunately, the music industry, as awesome as it is to be apart of, is a tough place to really set yourself up for a stable setting in the future. Everything is so fickle regarding how a band breaks out or not. You can be together for 2 months and then be on top of the world…or it could take you many years of touring your asses off and working hard before you start seeing a return…or you could work just as hard as the next band but have nothing ever happen for you. I think the key here is “working hard”. That’s why we’re not as upset over this as we thought we were going to be. We toured as much as we possibly could and poured everything we could into our songs. Sure, people can look at us and say “they quit too early” or “they could have done more”…but when we all feel a certain way, what point is there to try working as hard as we have when the passion is starting to fade? We’ve all been together for 6+ years and the amount of effort we put into this was 100%. The one thing we wanted to make sure is that nobody thought we just gave up like it was nothing. This was definitely one of the hardest conclusions we have ever had to come to and we’re all very upset things didn’t work out like we wanted them to.
So anyway, before I ramble on too much…we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us/bought our records/came to our shows/partied with us/let us stay at their place/talked to us/etc. over the whole time we’ve been a band. The time will come where we can list every single person we thank and why…but that’ll be in the near future. There’s too many people and too many stories to just try coming up with names within a day or two. We’ve met many amazing new friends that we will always keep in touch with…and no matter what…the entire experience was COMPLETELY WORTH IT.
I don’t want to say that we’re broken up…we still want to write music, trust me…but as far as touring and taking months off to do it, that’s what has to change. None of us will be able to completely block this out of our lives…and if we can…we will still be releasing music to the world.
We’ll miss all of you incredibly. Please, make sure to keep in touch. All of our screen names will still be on our Myspace page (shameless plug…www.myspace.com/june). If you’ve got a story of a funny event/party/anything that you’ve shared with us, tell us! We want to remember it all, haha.
As far as our music, we’re not going to force it toward anybody. If you feel like checking it out, go ahead and do so. If you don’t, who cares, come find us and hang out. We all enjoy having a good time, ha.
Finally, to all of our friends working in the industry (bands, label employees, managers, etc)..we wish you luck! It’s been a blast playing shows and working with you, we know how hard it is, and if you feel like your time is not over…keep working hard!
Look out for the last round of shows we will be playing for a while. They should be posted as soon as they are confirmed.
We Love You,
Sutor, Tim, AJ, Mark
