Review: PiiQ Headpones + Giveaway: Updated

Sony recently released a new line of headphones called PiiQ (pronounced peek) and we have a pair in for review. These headphones were designed by artists, skaters, and DJs so they’re packed with style and color as well as performance sound.

This review is for the Giiq headphones which feature flex motion cups and a slick-skinned cord. The drivers use a neodymium magnet, the strongest permanent magnet known to humankind, for robust sound.

These stylish headphones are an on-ear type that feature soft ear pads and an adjustable headband for the perfect fit. I found that the round ear pads were comfortable but being that our ears aren’t round… they didn’t fit as snug as a good pair of headphones should. The headphones also did a nice job of dampening external sounds for an enhanced (I don’t need to crank up the volume to block outside sounds) music experience.

Testing these out with a variety of music proved that their sound was pretty full range, however I found that an over whelming mid-range drowned out a lot of the high-end on most music types. The bass was pretty responsive on deep notes but also a bit lacking on some rock tracks. Overall these are better than a standard pair of ear buds but not anywhere near a set of high quality Bose headphones.

The Giiq headphones are some of the most stylish headphones I’ve ever seen. Their neon green/yellow and black color are far different then today’s standard white iPod ear buds and everyone deserves to hear their music in better ways. The Giiq and all the other PiiQ headphones are not only about a better sound experience but also a style statement. Don’t settle for just any old pair of headphones anymore when you have a choice like PiiQ at hand.
