Almost An Update

hey piggies and piglets!
Now that i’ve sufficiently confused everyone by changing song titles once, i thought to myself “why not confuse the confusion with more confusion”?
confused? we aren’t, and here’s why.
The first song title that everyone became accustomed too, “Johnny Cash”, was a working title that i created while recording demos in the studio. The song mimic’d the guitar-strumming sound that Johnny Cash pioneered, which in turn was used to describe the working song as “the johnny cash song”. (creating working studio titles is completely normal. most of the time the working title refers more to the sound or creation of the song, rather than the final chorus lyrics, after which most titles are coined) As the demos were being finished, i began sharing songs with the online community, including “Johnny Cash” and another fan favorite “I Mostly Copy Other People”. The songs received a great initial reaction and the online buzz started building.
After finishing the studio recording, it came time to work out the tracklisting and permanent names for the songs. This is when the song title was originally changed to “Southern Weather”. So we changed the myspace profile, and we changed the purevolume profile and you guys continued to give the song MAJOR love, new name and all!
As the song’s popularity grew, it became apparent that it was a sure-fire choice for the first single. The live show reaction was great and everyone was ready to make it happen……until we realized that the chorus of another song contained the phrase “…..blame it on this southern weather, just blame it on anything….” and would probably confuse everyone EVEN MORE.So this is what we did.
The song you all know as “Southern Weather” (previously Johnny Cash) is now titled “Say This Sooner”……..so don’t be confused when you hear “Say This Sooner” on your local radio station starting mid-February and they don’t call it Southern Weather. All-in-all, we apologize for the change and any shrugging shoulders….i swear it won’t change again! So go to our myspace page or purevolume page and get re-acclimated with your new favorite song, “Say This Sooner”!
peace and love,
Aaron and The AlmostPS. if you’re extra curious, here’s some juicy tidbits that you’ll want to remember! We’re shooting a VIDEO for “Say This Sooner” at the end of January. Dustin Kensrue – Please Come Home
Artist: Dustin Kensrue
Album: Please Come Home
Label: Equal Vision
Purchase: MerchNow
Release Date: January 23, 2007
Overall: 9.1
Music: 8.8
Lyrics: 9.5
Production: 9.0
Dustin Kensrue, mastermind and frontman of alternative rockers Thrice, has been embarking on many new endeavors recently. Between the birth of his first child, his position on the board of To Write Love On Her Arms, writing and recording a new record with Thrice, and playing countless solo shows, Dustin’s solo album may be subconsciously titled as a request of himself. Regardless, this eight song debut contains the passion and the power he exudes in Thrice, but in a stripped down, soft-serve setting.
Reminiscent of Johnny Cash meets Bruce Springstein mixed in with the expected honesty of Dustin’s writing, don’t think you’re getting an acoustic version of Thrice. This album is far removed from their sound. The country and blues tone is not normally something I take to, but for some reason, Dustin does it differently.
The songs are not groundbreaking, life changing, or perfect, but they’re easy to identify with, sing a long to, and love as though they were written for you. I strongly recommend this album, it just may be your gateway into a genre ignored by a lot of modern rock fans, and embraced by this modern rock icon.
