YouInSeries Call It A Day
Equal Vision Record‘s band YouInSeries have decided to call it a day. You can read a message from the band below.
Well hello everyone. Kyle here from the YouInSeries camp. I have some sad news to inform everyone about. After starting this band 5 years ago with my best friends in my garage, it seems as though YouInSeries has finally ran its course. We were in the process of writing songs for our second record when I was informed that some of us were not compelled to continue with this lifestyle anymore. It saddens me in such a way that its hard to express in words. I really wish we could have recorded our new songs for you
guys to hear. It was some of my favorite material I have ever worked on. I want to personally thank my bandmates, everyone at Equal Vision Records, any managment/booking agents we have worked with in the past, and anyone who has ever com to seen us play live or picked up our record. You’re support means the world to me. Thank you so much for giving us a chance. I’ve put the last five years of my life into this project, and it’s hard to come to terms with it being over. That being said, I fully intend on continuing my musical passion. Over the next few weeks, months, or however long it takes, I will be searching for a new project to work on. If anyone is interested in talking about playing music together, you can email me at [email protected]Thanks again to everyone who has supported myself and our band throughout the years. I will be back though. Keep your eyes and ears open. All the love in the world.
-Kyle

When Fred Mascherino announced that he’d left Taking Back Sunday to pursue his solo career, many were left devastated; week’s later fans were given the chance to find solace in Mascherino’s debut effort. With The Color Fred it’s Mascherino who shows his true colors, not to mention his knack for creating pure pop-rock bliss. The single “If I Surrender” has already made a big splash on the Internet, with its subsequent video.
The record becomes slightly bogged down in the middle; as I found favor in the more up tempo tracks. All around, Bend to Break is a well written album, that’s sure to please. Fred truly brought a great dynamic to Taking Back Sunday, and he will be missed. Nevertheless he’s paved the way for a great solo career, the future looks bright for The Color Fred.

Circa Survive – On Letting Go
Artist: Circa Survive
Album: On Letting Go
Label: Equal Vision
Purchase: Smart Punk
Release Date: May 29, 2007
Overall: 9.0
Music: 9.5
Lyrics: 8.5
Production: 9.0
“Living Together,†is the first track off of Circa Survive’s newest release On Letting Go. With its creepy, catchy, reverb drenched guitars I often have to remind myself that I’m not listening to their debut album Juturna. Surprisingly, this song is nothing like the other 11 tracks off On Letting Go which are, in a sense, a step up from Juturna. Sure, there are the hauntingly beautiful melodies on On Letting Go that made the previous disc a hit, but there are also many different elements that are, in my opinion, very unexpected. Circa Survive consists of members; Anthony Green (vocals), Brendan Ekstrom (guitar), Colin Frangicetto (guitar), Nick Beard (bass), and Steve Clifford (drums).
The album in it’s entirety is very, very well written with none of the songs, in my opinion, on the boring or lackluster side. Stand-out tracks include; the acoustic, ballad-like “Kicking Your Crosses Down” where Green shows his best vocal performance on the album. Other stand-out tracks include “Semi Constructive Criticism” where it starts with Green singing a few words to 2 guitar chords and then speeds up so unexpectedly that it’s comparable to a kick in the face, if you will, then slows back down to the normal Circa Survive tempo. Then there is, in my opinion, the best track on the album “Your Friends Are Gone” which is also the most unique song on the disc. It begins with a fairly poppy guitar riff that you would never expect to hear from a band of this genre, and then picks up into a good paced, catchy song. Overall, I am very impressed with this release, and I would probably call it one of the best records of 2007.
Track Listing
1. Living Together
2. In The Morning And Amazing
3. The Greatest Lie
4. The Difference Between Medicine And Poison Is In The Dose
5. Mandala
6. Travel Hymn
7. Semi Constructive Criticism
8. Kicking Your Crosses Down
9. On Letting Go
10. Carry Us Away
11. Close Your Eyes To See
12. Your Friends Are Gone
Damiera Return With New Lineup
After a brief two-month hiatus, Damiera have returned to writing and performing music with a brand new lineup.
Back in April, three fourths of Damiera left the band to pursue other goals. The departing members were “seeking satisfaction elsewhere,” says continuing member and vocalist Dave Raymond, “they wanted to take another road for now… without having to be committed to a group setting.”
The new members consist of guitarist Steve Downs and drummer Josh Sparks, formerly of the Iowa-based band Spirit of the Stairway, and Jayson Dezuzio, a long time professional producer whose resume includes work with Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, and more. Dezuzio also produced the latest Damiera album, M(US)IC, which was released in January.
“I love music, and I will continue to let go of every excess (money, home, health, etc) in order to find my end in it,” states Raymond, “I have been extremely fortunate this far, but I’d rather end with nothing and satisfied than end with everything and not use it.”
Damiera will pick up where they left off, fire up the van, and begin touring with the new lineup in August.
