Bassist Leaves The Spill Canvas
Scott McGuire, bassist for The Spill Canvas, has left the band. You can read his message below.
Oh, where to begin. There’s no way to go about it other than to just say it. The Spill Canvas has decided in order to make music to its fullest potential they must do so with out me. The past three years of my life have been absolutely remarkable. The experiences Iâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve had, places Iâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve seen, and people Iâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢ve met all exceeded any expectation that I could have ever imagined. I wouldnâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢t trade any of it for the world. Playing music and traveling has always been my all time dream ever since I was just a little kid. And to have had the opportunity to do so on the level I did has been a dream come true.
To Nick, Joe and Dan: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my closest family over the past three years. You guys are amazingly talented musicians and deserve nothing but the best. I love you guys. Good luck.
To the all-star management, booking, legal and label team: you will take this band to heights that people never thought possible. I feel privileged to have met you all and had the opportunity to work with you. Thank you so much and good luck in the future.
To all the TSC fans: thank you as well for showing your love and support in ways I never knew existed. You are the best fans any band could ever dream of having. Please continue to support TSC in any way you possibly can.
To all my friends and family: thank you for backing me in my decision to chase my dream relentlessly. Without your support, thereâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s no way I could have achieved anything. I love you. I would like to say that this is not the end for me. The Spill Canvas has been my every breath for three years and it will certainly be a hard adjustment to not be a part of it anymore. But I will take the experiences and knowledge that I have gained and continue on with my life. I will always make music on my own time and seek opportunities to play with others.
So again, thank you all for being a part of the best experience of my life. I will cherish the memories for as long as I live.
Three New Bands Added to Punk Goes Acoustic 2
Relient K, The Spill Canvas, and Sherwood will be on the next Punk Goes Acoustic compilation.
A message to Lydia fans
Below is an update about why Lydia had to cancel their current tour with The Spill Canvas.
hello dear friends
I don’t know what to say right now really. I’m writing this from my sidekick in the middle of nowhere illinois. We are driving home from ohio, halfway through an amazing tour with our friends the spill canvas. Extremely bummed right now to say the least. The last few days leighton has picked up some sort of a stomach virus flu type of sicknessand has been incredibly sick, but manned up and played the shows even thought he was not feeling up to it at all.
Then last night he started to feel a bit worse and went to urgent care before our show, they said it was just an upset stomach and he should take it easy, but he came back to try and play the show anyways. As we took the stage to a sold out crowd, more stoked than ever to play, 20 seconds into the first song he passed out cold on stage and we ended the set there, tried to get him to the hospital again but opted to sleep at the hotel and shake it off.
This morning he woke up feeling even worse and we talked about maybe taking the day off and letting him get better. On his walk out to the van, he passed out cold once again and hit the concrete going into convulsions, we called 911 and got him the hospital immediately to find
out that the “upset stomach” was internal bleeding for the past 3 days and a torn esophagus and if we waited any longer who knows what could have happened. Leighton will spend the next 5 days to a week in the columbus, mt carmel hospital with his parents while the doctors try to
determine how this happened and get him all fixed up and we will be driving 28 hours home over the next day or two. This is definitely Something far more serious than any of us could ever imagine and we are
so incredibly bummed that we won’t be able to make it to these shows. Things have never been better with the band and we have some really amazing things coming up in the future, so please, Please keep leighton in your prayers. And I promise we will be back out on the road and
making new music as soon as possible. So much love from us. Loren.
